Snoring is caused due to the vibrations in mouth, nose or throat regions. Blockage of air passage in a combination of these areas can also contribute to snoring. Snoring generally occurs during sleeping because our muscles and tissues are in a much relaxed state during our sleep. This state causes collapsing and vibration of muscles and tissues that results in snoring as in relaxed state they are incapable of preventing collisions.

Snoring can originate anywhere from nose to vocal chords. Being involuntary it cannot be controlled also. Moreover there’s not one specific way of curing it. Recently researchers found that tongue is one of its triggering factors. For curing a snorer requires a mixture of techniques with devices.

Surgical methods are used for curing snoring when common methods and techniques fail to render relief. There are a number of surgery types for curing snoring and different surgeries are used under different situations. However surgical methods are used as a last option for curing snoring.

Otolaryngologists decide upon some final measures after carefully evaluating physical and physiological factors. Otolaryngologists are specialist medical professionals dealing cases relating to nose, mouth and throat.

A known treatment for curing snoring involves Repose or tongue suspension procedure. In this treatment a screw is inserted into the jaw below the tongue which prevents the tongue from falling backwards during sleep. However people under such treatment talk about its affectivity but the operation not reversible. Hence proper considerations must be taken before opting for this treatment.

For those whose nose remains the major problem are provided with nasal surgery. However, being considered as a cosmetic surgery, many individuals suspect it as actually a cure. It is mostly recommended for deviated nasal septum. This treatment facilitates natural breathing even during daytime.

When a snorer’s major problem lies with uvula then professionals recommend for Laser Assisted uvulopalatoplasty or LAUP. The more advanced form of this traditional treatment is known as Uvulopalapharagoplasty. In this procedure, the uvula located in the rear part of the roof of the mouth, which is often considered for obstructing normal air passages, is cut in order to allow proper air flow.

Another relatively new technique that removes part of uvula is Radio Frequency Tissue Ablation, also known as Samnoplasty. This new technique has been approved by the Food and Drug administration.

Similarly another technique that uses radio frequency for removing tissues of the obstructing area is termed as Coblation-Channeling. Not much data about this new technique has been released but it is quite sure that it uses radio frequency for removing tissues for facilitating normal air flow. If necessary, in some cases, the obstructing part’s whole tissues are also removed.

As mentioned before the surgical option remains the last options for an individual when everything else fails to work. Evaluate the root causes carefully before going for the final surgery. However these nasal surgeries are proven to provide relief but make sure that also have the best option of surgeons for ensuring best results.
