Cataract is a disease in the eye in which the lens of the eye appears white and the person cannot see properly. This disease is a very common eye problem. It either affects one or both the eyes of the person. The rays of light do not fall on the eye’s lens properly and hence the formation of image does not happen. This is the preliminary stage of the disease. In further or next stage, suffered person could see double images.
Sign of Cataract- The first signs of the Cataract are myopia or near-sightedness, opacification or gradual yellowing of the eye lens.
Symptoms
- Blurred , Clouded or dim vision
- Difficulty in vision at night
- Sensitivity to glare and light
- halo around the lights
- Need brighter light for other activities and reading
- Changes in contact lens prescription or eye glass frequently
- Yellowing or Fading of colors
- Double vision
- White color changes in the pupil
Causes of cataract :
- Malnutrition
- Myopia
- Vitamin A or B deficiency
- Infection in Eyes
- Improper or Unhealthy life styles.
- Stress and strain.
- Irritation in eyes.
- Excess intake of salt, sugar and alcohol.
- Smoking.
- Deposition of salts and acids in between lens fibers
- High Radiation.
Diabetes, Aging, Down syndrome and Eye injury are some of the other causes of Cataract disease. You can also treat this disease naturally, provided you have proper knowledge of the home remedies.
Some of the effective home remedies are mentioned below.
- Carrot- Those suffered from Cataract should take plenty of carrots as a daily routine. It is considered as one of the preventive and effective measures.
- Garlic - It should be slowly chewed as daily routine. It helps to clean the crystal part of the eye lens.
- Pumpkin- The pumpkin flower juice should be applied on the eyelids externally twice a day. It will stop clouding of the eye lens further.
- Aniseed- The mixture of coriander and aniseed with one teaspoon of brown sugar should be taken in the evening and morning time.
- Nutrients- Some nutrients have been found as useful for cataract treatment.
- Almonds- It helps the eyes to regain its vigor.
- Honey- Putting of few drops of unprocessed honey in the eyes considered as very effective for some patients.
Even though Cataract is not a serious disease but this needs to be treated timely, else it may cause or lead to even blindness.
