Super Foods that Help Heartburn

Millions of people around the world feel miserable due to indigestion and heartburn. Regular digestive problems are symptom of bad food choices, overeating or other serious things. A few simple changes in food habits can help you in getting relief from indigestion.

Various foods can lead to heartburn and indigestion which relaxes band of muscles at the bottom of your esophagus thereby preventing stomach acid from keeping out. Spicy food items along with chili powder and back peeper, raw onion and garlic, fatty or fried foods, citrus fruits and caffeine drinks must be avoided in order to lessen heartburn and indigestion chances.

A wide variety of non-citrus fruits, whole grains and vegetables provide fiber which improves digestion and lessens acid reflux. Implement low-fat methods for cooking and drink lots of fluid for absorbing essential nutrients and lubricating waste food. After dinner or before going to bed try to drink herbal chamomile tea which has soothing effect on stomach. Heartburn and digestive problems can be decreased by having smaller frequent meals. Try to take your snacks and meals in less noisy and distractive atmosphere. Prohibit fitting clothes, especially tight waist clothes during meals and don’t lie down immediately after taking meals.

Oatmeal should be made your morning meal. It is low in cholesterol and saturated fat, rich in fiber and gives calcium when taken with milk that further boosts your day. Adding raisins or blueberries adds a bit extra potassium and iron forming well balanced meal.

Nothing beats turkey for nutrient packed and lean source of protein that is easy on stomach too. Rich in niacin, turkey helps in lowering cholesterol levels in blood. Another great protein source is skinless chicken. Both are easy to cook in and outdoors.

Non citrus fruits like grapes and apples are low in sodium, cholesterol and saturated fat and good sources of fiber and vitamin C.
