According to research, the complications related to gastric bypass surgery are very common & serious, and they can even result in the death of a patient.
Various complications can occur during bypass surgery. In case, the surgery is not executed perfectly or the incisions are not healed properly, then it can result in another surgery and a long recovery time. Infection is a common aftereffect of this surgery.
The surgery includes the danger of the pulmonary embolus that means the blockage in the arteries; that is why, many patients are advised to go on medication. Sometimes, these medications can cause life-threatening problems like internal bleeding or hemorrhaging.
The surgery involves the most sensitive areas like stomach and bowels. A surgeon should be done very cautiously while stapling or stitching the connection between the stomach and the bowel. It should be neither too loose nor too tight. Hole can shrink because of scar tissues and if they will shrink too much, the patient will not be able to digest the food properly. The hole can also cause infection to your body. Some of the other complication can occur due to change in the metabolism.
