Side Effects of Adderall

Adderall is used for treating ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. ADHD is a condition where a child displays a shorter attention span and distracts very easily. This distraction badly affects most of his active hours. Besides, he may also exhibit a behavior of being over emotional, high impulsiveness and over activeness. Adderall is basically used as a part of broader treatment educational, psychological and social approaches.
The extended version of this drug known as Adderall XR is also available as a once daily treatment concerning ADHD. Under certain conditions its regular form is also prescribed for treating narcolepsy. Adderall capsules can be taken as a whole or its contents could be sprinkled over mild food choices such as applesauce. Whichever food you may choose must be consumed immediately after sprinkling the drug content. Always consider sprinkling the entire content of the capsule. The first dose is required to be taken early in the morning after waking up. If additional doses are prescribed then consider taking them at an interval of 4-6 hours. Under any condition, the patient must avoid taking late night doses which can interrupt regular sleep schedules.
Never overdose yourself while being treated with Adderall and never use it more than the prescribed sessions. If you are prescribed for a single dose then consider taking it at least 6 hours before going to bed. If the dose gets missed until the next day then it is recommended to better skip it and continue the regular schedules. In case of more than one dose, consider following the prescribed schedules strictly. If missed any dose and remembered it within an hour of the prescribed time then consider taking it immediately. If the dose gets missed out for more than an hour’s duration then better skip it and continue with the regular schedule.
There are certain side effects of this drug which cannot be anticipated. If any change in the intensity is observed then one should immediately attain medical help for avoiding the complications. The most common side effects of Adderall include high blood pressures, heart attacks, impotence, dry mouths, depression, seizures, over stimulation, weight loss, stomach and intestinal problems, increased heart beat rate and sudden death. Further, the common effects of Adderall XR include dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pains, infection, fever, insomnia, nervousness, mood swings, nausea, weight loss, loss of appetite, weakness and vomiting.
It is highly recommended to avoid using Adderall if MAO inhibitor has been consumed within 14 days. This may also include phenelzine sulfate. Combining these two may result in a life-threatening increase in blood pressure level. The doctor may also not prescribe this drug if the patient is allergic to stimulants. It should not be prescribed if the patient is agitated or prone to the abuse of substance.
If you have suffered high blood pressure then it is recommended to consume this drug with caution. This can cause you dizziness or drowsiness and could impair your judging and thinking abilities. Adderall is also known for worsening the cases of twitches and tics and if you or anyone of your family members is suffering or have suffered the same then consulting a doctor is considered important. Under many conditions, this drug has also been found to elevate the symptoms of seriously psychotic patients. Also this drug should never be used during pregnancy or while nursing an infant. Avoid any of its usage unless it is most necessarily required. It can well affect a developing child and could also well pass into the breast milk. Also it is never recommended to combine this drug with other drugs as this can worsen the symptoms or could even elevate a new major health issue.
Prescribing Adderall requires a lot of consideration concerning medical and physical history of a child. However, this drug has not been tested for long time and therefore, the doctor requires keeping a close eye for his/her patient’s health. This drug is highly prohibited for patients having heart problems. In many cases, using Adderall for heart complications has resulted into sudden deaths. Adderall drugs must be stored at room temperature in tight, light resistance containers to keep it away from direct heat and moisture.
