Look for these Features when going to buy an Ergonomic Office Chair

Today, everybody is opting for the ergonomic office chair. These chairs provide the necessary comforts and support for eliminating numerous work induced injuries. Today, there are many types, designs and features rich ergonomic chairs available in the market. However, not one brand or type can be essentially considered as the best. Different individuals have different preferences and therefore the perfect ergonomic chair varies from one person to another.

There are certain common considerations that every user thinks of having in his ergonomic chair. Almost all ergonomic chairs have these features but some do contain several unique features that provide extra comforts for increasing work levels. However, here are the most common features that everybody requires for carrying his/her works at ease –

  1. Seat Height – the seat height constitutes to be the major consideration while purchasing an ergonomic office chair. The normal seat height should range from 16 to 21 inches from the floor. At this height, the user can easily and firmly place his feet on the floor. The thighs should be position horizontally and the arms should be well placed at the desk height. The ergonomic chair’s seat adjustability should feature the pneumatic lever for adjusting the heights.
  2. Seat Depth and Width – the ergonomic chair’s seat width and depth should sufficiently support and comfort the user’s body. The standard seat width must range between 17-21 inches. The seat depth should allow the users for sit comfortably with his back firmly placed against the backrest. It should also allow a gap of 2-3 inches between the back of the user’s knees and the seat. Additionally, the user’s back and forward tilt should be adjustable too.
  3. Lumbar Support – for avoiding the back pains the ergonomic chairs should posses a lumbar support. The lumbar spine is curved inside and sitting too long without support this region can ultimately lead you to back pains. The lumbar support should also feature adjustability for providing accurate support for this lower back curve.

Going and buying any ergonomic chair cannot satisfy a user’s comfort levels by any means. It is therefore necessary for us to have some sort of knowledge regarding the basic features. This not only helps us in making wise purchases but also provides a better way to increase our productivity levels and work efficiencies.
