Acne is one of the most common and widespread skin disorders among the majority. These most commonly affect the facial areas but they can also affect some other areas of the body. The second common area that it affects is the arm. Acne on arms is more common among men than in women. It generally originates when the dead sebum and cells clog with the glands and develops acne.

Acne on arms can be genital and sometimes it relates to what is commonly termed as keratosis pilaris. Keratosis pilaris is an acne related problem that usually originates on the arms and back but can also spread on the leg areas. Make sure that you are not affected with these, as they do not have any cures. However, through several OTC medications and preventive measures these can be effectively controlled.

The main reason behind developing the arm acne is considered to be tight clothing. Tight fitting clothes prevent dead sebum and cells from shedding off and tend to clog along the pores. This ultimately leads to the developing of arm acne. Additionally, people who persistently sweat are more prone to develop arm acnes.

The acne on arms is quite similar to face acnes and therefore many times can be treated through common OTC acne medications. But this only true with mild cases as your hands do consist of as many oil glands as your face and hence your hands would soon be dry and inflamed.

Below, we provide several tips for avoiding the development of acne on arms –

  • Never scrub the affected area on your hands otherwise it will just aggravate the acne problem.
  • Those with long hairs and those falling on the shoulders and arms areas must keep their hairs short and tidy.
  • Consider taking a bath daily as it helps in keeping your hands clean.
  • Don’t get dehydrated as many times it aggravates or leads to develop the acne problems. As such try to drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid using harsh soaps and instead try using some anti-bacterial ones that soothes the skins.
  • A healthy and well balanced diet is very necessary for the keeping the body fit and also prevents from developing the acne problems.
  • Consider taking plenty of sleeps as it helps in keeping the stress away which leads to more acne breakouts.

Adopting these approaches will certainly help you in preventing from developing acne arms. However, when none of these approaches comes handy then it is better to conult a dermatologist.
