How To Prevent Nose Bleeding?

Unlike other body parts, our nose has more blood vessels grouped in a vulnerable position. That is why any trauma to the face can result in nasal injury and bleeding nose. When nasal membranes excessively dry out and crack then nosebleeds occur.

This affliction is more in people, who frequently take medications for preventing clotting of blood, like warfarin, aspirin and for inflammations. This is more vulnerable in the colder months when upper respiratory infections are more. It may also occur due to rapidly changing climatic conditions.

Other similar factors that lead to nasal disorder include:

  • Infection
  • Trauma and nose picking
  • Allergic and non-allergic rhinitis
  • High blood pressure or hypertension
  • Excessive intake of blood thinning medications
  • Higher consumption of alcohol
  • Smoking
  • Tumors and hereditary bleeding problems

People who develop nose bleeding can easily handle this problem without any doctor’s help if they stringently implement the suggestions given below:

  • Using your thumb and index finger pinch all the soft parts of the nose.
  • Push the pinched parts of the nose firmly against the bones of the face for some time.
  • With head tilted bend your body forward slightly allowing the blood to run back into your throat and sinuses causing problems of gagging or inhaling the blood.
  • Try to hold your nose holding for at least five minutes and repeat this act frequently to stop bleeding.
  • Do not lay flat instead keep your head higher than the level of the heart and sit quietly.
  • Wrap an ice in a towel and apply it to the affected nose and cheeks.

Using these self care treatments you can retrain bleeding significantly before it gets worsened. For more cures and treatments just refer to the links beneath.
