How Swollen Gums are Treatable With Home Remedies

You are suffering from the condition of swollen gums if your gums bleed while brushing. Such symptoms should not be ignored. The condition turns the gums red and the suffering individual may experience discomfort. The condition arises when bacteria gets stuck between your gums and teeth.  Ask the dentist whether any disinfectant can be prescribed for rinsing your mouth. Before you use any home remedy, it is always better to determine the cause of the condition.

The home remedies to treat the swollen gums can be:

  1. Take a glass of warm water ant stir a tablespoon of salt in it. Take in your mouth and spit it out after swishing it many minutes in your mouth. It is a temporary cure for the condition. Do it several times a day.
  2. Gingivitis leads to bleeding and swollen gums so it should be avoided by flossing your teeth regularly after meals else the lodged food between your teeth cause this condition.
  3. Disinfect your mouth by cleaning your tongue with a tongue cleaner or scraper daily.
  4. Rinsing you mouth with lemon solution twice or thrice a day is also an effective therapy for swollen gums. Squeezing a full lemon juice into a glassful of warm water and rinsing your mouth with it is beneficial for the affected gums.
  5. Brushing your teeth with good fluoride toothpaste disinfects the mouth area by doing away with the build-up of bacteria.
  6. The regulated blood flow also helps heal the condition. Massage your gums each day for 5 minutes with a rubber finger massager or cotton swab to increase the flow of blood in the area.
  7. Have a balanced diet which should include appropriate amount of minerals and vitamins. Your dental and overall health is best taken care of in this way.
  8. You can also take homeopathic medicine Propolis the application of one dropper of which into your mouth for a minute and then rinsing your mouth with water helps with the condition.
  9. Take professional help for cleaning plaque and tartar from your teeth and for this periodic visits to your dentists are necessary.
