Home Remedies for curing Athletes Foot

Athletes’ foot, also known as Tinea pedis, refers to a skin condition where the skin gets fungus infected. It particularly leads to crack, scaly and itchy skin between the toes and soles of the foot. Anyone can develop athletes’ foot but people who sweat more or just move around more barefooted are likely to be easily affected with this complication. The fungus infection is difficult to treat but with some accurate and persistence treatment one can definitely heal this complication.

  • For quick relieves try to follow a hygiene routine. Wash your foot daily with dandruff shampoo that contains selenium sulfide like the selsun blue. Consider soaking your foot in warm water mixed with one tablespoon of tea tree oil and 3 tablespoon of salt. After soaking it for around 30 minutes use a pumice stone for removing the dead skins and calluses that tends to hide under the fungus. Then using a soft bristle scrub brush for removing the scaly patches around the toenails and from between the toes. Then dry it clean towel and use a hair drier for drying any moist spaces. Using the hair drier has an added bonus of killing the fungus and opens the pores on the foot quickening the healing process.
  • You can also use several anti-fungal creams and sprays for curing the athletes’ foot. Depending upon type of infection you choose between these two products and never forget to follow the directional information on the package for adopting better approaches. In case your infections are spread around the toes and you also suffer from foot odor and excessive sweats then it is better use the spray option as they would help in keeping the infected area dry thereby quickening the healing process. But if the infection relates to cracks, severe calluses and skin dryness then cream approaches would prove much beneficial for you.
  • You also need to treat the things that contact your foots for eliminating the chances of spreading and reoccurrence. Sprinkle your shoe with white vinegar and let it dry under the sun. Then sprinkle some anti-fungal powder on the soles for removing any remaining bacteria. Always try to wear clean socks and clean them in hot water using bleaches. Consider disinfecting your bathroom after each and every use using Lysol or other anti-bacteria/fungal approaches. This will prevent it from reoccurring.

These are the most recommended home remedies for quickly and effectively relieving your athletes’ foot. But if all these approaches fail to cure the problem or if the cracks start bleeding then it is better to consult doctor about the ongoing situation. There are chances that you can develop some other secondary infections that would require the prescription anti-bacterial medication for the treatment.
