When you are suffering with a condition like this it not only causes you discomfort, but also is not safe for you traveling without any precaution. Be it a holiday or a business meeting. We have to travel and travel safe. There are a few simple tips that one can follow while traveling and have a safe journey and also enjoy it well.

  • Firstly, carry some identification that says that you are diabetic. You could use it in the form of bracelet identification or a regular ID card. This will help people realize that you are diabetic and they will be more careful and helpful to you. It is always advisable that you carry a certificate in the language of the country that you are visiting. This certificate should have the medication or the insulin. This will prevent any kind of misunderstanding in a foreign country about your needles and the medication.
  • The next thing that is very important is that you must be having a copy of the prescription that has been recently given to you. Generally nobody loses the medication. But in case you are out of the medicines, you must be able to buy them again. So it is important that you carry the names and also the dosage of the medicines with you. You must also be careful that you are carrying more than usual medicines and the testing strips. In case there is any damage, you must be having a replacement.
  • If an insulin pen is used by you, it is recommended that you carry a U100 injection to cope with any emergency. Along with this,it is also advisable that you must be carrying the meter that measures your blood glucose. You must also check your glucose level more than you often do.
  • Before you reach any particular place, always make sure that you know well in advance where to go for any medical assistance. You must also ensure that your diabetes is covered by the insurance.
  • Also take care that the medication is neither stored in a very cold or a very hot place. Carry the special cool bags that keep the insulin cool, just enough cool.
