Approximately, over 60 million adults from all over the world has suffered from Acid reflux at least once in a month. Many people believe that stomach acid reflux is not a serious problem, but if you will not take care of its symptoms, it may lead to some serious problems. It can even damage to the esophagus also. That is why it is important to successfully treat the acid reflux.
Main causes acid refluxes:-
The Acid reflux generally causes when the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) does not work in a proper way and allows acid to come upwards to the esophagus from the stomach. Other reasons are:
- Pregnancy – It is found during the trimester of the pregnancy. As the baby grows and presses the stomach, contents present in it may go up to the esophagus. In this case even antacids will not work on acid reflux. Patients have been asking to eat more foods per day; it helps to get some relief.
- Asthma – Asthma is also the cause of Acid Reflux; the reason is that the sneezing and coughing can trigger the acid reflux by causing change in the chest. Certain asthmatic drugs may cause acid reflux by relaxing LES.
- Large eating habits – People who have large eating habits will be usually prone to acid reflux.
- Hiatal Hernia- Another possible cause of Acid reflux is Hiatal hernia. It is basically a condition when the stomach’s upper part moves up through a very small opening in a diaphragm. Hiatal hernia is mainly caused by vomiting, pregnancy, obesity, coughing, some physical exertion and straining.
- Lacking digestive enzymes and Peptic ulcers – These two conditions can also cause the acid reflux. As these conditions generally slow down the process of digestion in the stomach that result in the building of stomach acids.
- Lifestyle- Lifestyle factors also contribute to the causes of acid reflux. These factors are overeating, smoking, diet having a high quantity of fatty foods and salt and fatty foods and also the stress.
