Though it may not be true regarding other types of cancer but as far as breast cancer is concerned, it can be cured in case it is detected at early stages. It is best to do the monthly breast self-examination to spot the early symptoms and signs of this ailment where you examine your breast thoroughly for any unusual lump.
Signs and Symptoms
- There is pain in your nipple or breast without any reason. You can also notice slight discharges with your nipple turning inwards.
- There is lump growth under the armpits or in your breast. These lumps can be hard and without any pain when felt or they can be tender, rounded and soft. It is important to get checked by your doctor as soon as you notice any kind of lump.
- It may be there if you find the color of the skin around your nipples turning to red color or there is a swelling in the breast area. Scaling in the breast area and the abnormal enlargement is the indication of the initial presence of breast cancer.
These foretelling signs of breast cancer should not be overlooked and examined by a doctor who, through mammogram, will confirm if you have breast cancer or not.
Treatment of Breast Cancer
The disease is curable if detected at an early stage so don’t tarry if you have someone to be suffering from this disease. The tests like biopsy and mammogram are done by the doctors to diagnose to see whether it is breast cancer or not. The most effective treatment will be recommended after the confirmation of the diagnosis though the most common treatment is the removal of the tumor or the breast through surgery which is followed by hormone treatments and chemotherapy.
Gather as much information as possible to know the signs, symptoms and treatment of breast cancer and immediately visit you doctor in case you notice any abnormal changes in your breast since only an early detection can save your life.
