Bird Flu

We all know of this famous quote – “Prevention is better than cure” which could save several lives if one follows it. Here is some important information about the deadly disease “Bird Flu” that has taken away many lives and has made things complicated for humans.

Bird Flu called as Avian Influenza in medical terms is an infectious disease susceptible particularly to chicken and turkey. Scientists still continue their research of how this virus (H5N1) erupted among birds but all are aware of how contagious and fatal it is once affected. Many researchers believe that this virus first started somewhere in Italy about a century ago and has now spread worldwide. The worst thing about this disease is the way in which this virus spreads and affects everyone.

As per the study, there are a total of fifteen avian influenza virus subtypes of which H5N1 virus is the most deadly one and is a major cause of concern. Birds first get infected by this virus and then spread it to humans who get infected by coming into contact with chicken feces. It is highly recommended to destroy all the birds if there are any symptoms of Bird flu before it becomes pandemic.

In most of the cases, patients with H5N1 bird flu have symptoms of in convenient breathing along with mid fever, sore throat and cough. One has to make sure to be diagnosed if they come across these symptoms and take some anti viral drugs prescribed by doctors. There are some reliable tests that have been proven successful in many cases before and are advisable to be taken by all the patients who have these symptoms.

Until now there has been no proven case that a person is affected by consuming chicken with food but it is advisable to not consume it if the region is affected by Bird flu. Most of the proven cases of this virus is that it got infected at live poultry farms and from there it got spread from one person to other person. So it is very vital to not in come in contact with these birds and stay as far as possible.

So person having symptoms like mild fever, sore throat, cough and respiratory problems must not neglect in getting diagnosed thinking it to be a normal flu or cough which comes in a while before it kills you. Always keep in mind that prevention is better than cure and be safe by applying the above protocols and save humanity by spreading this message to as many as possible.

It is also recommended to get H1N1 flu shots to pregnant women and other people who are at risk of getting infected with this type of virus.
